Camp Jubliee
A Camp Adventure For Children With
Sickle Cell Disease
Camp Jubilee was first held in 1991 with 34 campers and 17 volunteers funded by a grant from the Junior League of Dallas. In the year 2002 we hosted 140 campers and 74 volunteers who served as cabin counselors, program staff and members of the medical care team. The continued support of the Junior League of Dallas, Children’s Medical Center, and Cook Fort Worth Children’s Medical Center, along with growing community involvement, allows this adventure to continue to be offered.
The camp is held annually at Camp John Marc located in Meridian, Texas. Camp John Marc was designed solely and especially for children with chronic illnesses and has touched the lives of countless special children.
Camp Jubilee is provided at no cost to any child. Campers gain a sense of accomplishment and build friendships with other children who have the same disorder. The camper feels safe and secure in this environment. Campers are encouraged and recognized as unique individuals. Their own ability to cope with their disease is heightened by being with their peers as they teach each other what it means to live with sickle cell diseases.
