Sickle cell disease is an inherited life long condition affecting the red blood cells. Children that have sickle cell disease may experience periods of fatigue pain crises, infections, stroke and other life changing events. These events may occur at anytime and can become life threatening. The children are usually anemic decreasing their energy level and often their ability to physically keep up their peers.
Our Mission is to provide a week long summer camp experience for campers with Sickle Cell Disease treated at Children's Health Dallas/Plano and Cooks Childrens Fort Worth; at no cost to the campers.
Camp Jubilee builds a child’s confidence, increases self-worth, self-esteem and allows campers to meet other campers with Sickle Cell Disease. We also provide the parents "time-off" from the stress of caring for a child with a chronic illness.
